Ulster Chess Union
The Ulster Chess Union is responsible for administering and developing chess within Northern Ireland
The Ulster Chess Union has led the initiative in setting up the North Down Schools Chess Project
As well as this project the Union is engaged in other areas
- Adult chess - the union co-ordinates activity among Ulster Chess Clubs and organises a number of tournaments and leagues
- under the auspices of the Ulster Schools Chess Council, the Union co-ordinates and administers tournaments and leagues for Ulster Secondary Schools including the Ulster Schools Championship usually held in the autumn of each year
- the Union has a number of initiatives for primary schools including teacher training courses, childrens clubs and the En Passant initiative in Derry
